What is guided meditation?

Guided meditation is a style of meditation in which the meditator is led through the practice by a teacher either in person or via an audio/video recording. Guided meditation is suitable for engaging in single-pointed meditation, analytical meditation, or mindfulness practices. During a guided meditation, the teacher’s verbal instructions direct the meditator’s attention to specific aspects of that particular practice.
The purpose of guided meditation is to help the meditator stay focused, relaxed and to deepen their experience of meditation.
Guided meditations can be particularly helpful for beginners or those who have difficulty maintaining mental focus during their meditation sessions. At Peaceful Minds, we offer both focus and analytical guided meditations as well as guided mindfulness practices.
